We are always looking for interested retired teachers or other citizens concerned with education in joining our organization.

Who Can Join?

Active Membership:  Membership shall be open to any retired or former educator or administrator who has been employed in any educational institution or in the field of education.

Associate Membership:  Associate membership shall be open to any active teacher or other person interested in the work of this association and approved for membership by the Executive Committee.  An associate member shall have membership rights and privileges, except the right to vote, hold office, or to represent the Association.

Life Membership:  Life membership shall be open to any member eligible for active or associate membership.

Benefits of Joining

There are important benefits to joining our Association.  Among them are taking an active interest in legislation affecting our retirement status and educational issues, improving education in our public schools through active participation, and promoting a spirit of fellowship among retired teachers.

Here are 25 good reasons why an retired educator should join SCORTA and the Ohio Retired Teachers' Association ORTA:

2.  Represents retired teachers at STRS committee and board meetings

A small investment in a membership strengthens our associations and also strengthens our voices with STRS and the legislature.  ORTA's Number One priority is protecting and improving teacher retirement benefits.
Associate Memberships also available:
Any person interested in education and the concerns of retirees may become as associate member of ORTA.

How Can You Join?

     To join we need a completed application and membership dues for the first year. Dues are $50.00 for lifetime SCORTA membership.  If lifetime is not selected, yearly dues are $5.00.  Also, members may join the Ohio Retired Teachers' Association.  Dues are $500.00 for lifetime.  If lifetime is not selected yearly dues are $30.00.  Please contact us for more information and a copy of the application. 
     You also may attend one of our four yearly meetings and sign up. Our meetings are the second Friday of the months of Sept., Dec., Mar., and June.  The September and March meetings are in Clyde, Ohio, at the United Methodist Church.  The Dec. and June meetings are in Fremont, Ohio, at St. John's Lutheran Church.
